Southern Beasts

Southern Beasts
Cam-Asher Bond

In the warm embrace of the summer days

When your eyes rose up and you met my gaze

And we danced until stars filled the sky

The lights burned out but our love shined bright

Falls, they came a pouring down

Like a cold hard rain when it hits the ground

All the same we never made a sound

Lay you down without a whisper’d shout

Oh it’s a sunburn saga and a kiss of a lifetime

The burning of a southern setting sun

With every breath you take, oh it steals from mine

I’ll never shake the ringing of your tongue

All the Western heads, now they’re looking East

Vivacious lives of these southern beasts

Salty leave of the coastal breeze

Darling pack your bags, you’re coming home with me.
